Dylan won at the National Eisteddfod in 1989, 1991 and 1994, and also won at the Cerdd Dant Festival in 1992.
In Wales he is well-known as an accompanist and is always on demand at different festivals. He is the resident harpistat the famous Bodnant Gardens, and Plas Tan y Bwlch, Maentwrog.
He appeared in the 1,000 voices Festival at the Royal Albert Hall where he was guest soloist in 1997, where he shared a platform with Soprano Rebecca Evans. Other soloists he has accompanied and shared platforms with are Bryn Terfel, Eirian James, Shan Cothi, Gwyn Hughes-Jones, Rhys Meirion, John Eifion, and Annette Bryn-Parry.
His favourites are light music and Cerdd Dant, and in his spare time is a keen member of ‘Cor Glanaethwy’ both as a singer and accompanist.
After many years working at Ysbyty Gwynedd, and later as Secretary for ‘Blas ar Fwyd’, Llanrwst, Dylan Cernyw is happier than ever as a full time professional musician and as harp tutor with the William Mathias Music Centre. He spends the rest of his time at concerts, weddings or travelling abroad as a guest harpist.
He is co-working with Annette Bryn Parri on the ‘Heartstrings’ project, and will tour Scotland, England and Wales under the sponsorship of Sain Records and Pianos Cymru.
