HOGIA’R MYNYDD

Biography

Hogia’r Mynydd (which literally means “the mountain boys”) are a part of a very Welsh tradition; they are an amateur group of singers who travel over a wide area with their own brand of all-round entertainment. Their party include a humorist, soloists, an accordion soloist and a smaller singing group ‘Pwy sa’n Meddwl’ which has itself released a very successful CD on the SAIN label.

They were formed in the mid-80’s, and they rehearse in the famous community hall at Mynytho, on the Lleyn Peninsula, and the 16 members readily agree that they owe everything to the inspiration and musical talent of two local ladies- Carys Jones their conductor, and Gwenda Williams their accompanist.
