SAIN SCD2396This collection consists of 20 Welsh airs on Celtic, Triple and Pedal harps (by various artists).
Wales has a long association with the harp, and it is recognized as the national instrument of Wales. The second half of the 20th century saw a renaissance in harp-playing in Wales, especially the 'pedal' or 'concert' harp, due to school activity and the growing popularity in Cerdd Dant (singing poetry to harp accompaniment) in eisteddfodau and the work of The Welsh Cerdd Dant Society.
This compilation brings together a unique collection of Welsh airs and new compositions by Welsh harpists, played on the three types of harps - the Pedal, the Triple and the Celtic, giving us an intriguing insight into the musical activity of the last twenty years in Wales.
