MaharishiMaharishi began when Rich Durrell, Euron Jones and Gwilym Davies met at college in Bangor in 1998.

Rhodri (Pwdin) Evans played the keyboards for two years, and the original drummer Eurig Jones left fairly soon, and Rhydwen Mitchell took his place. During this time with Mitch, two albums were recorded between 1998 and 1999. ‘Stafell Llawn Mwg’ was recorded and produced by Les Morrison at Sain Records. The album won for Maharishi the ‘Band of the Year’ award at Radio Cymru 'Roc and Pop' Awards 2000, and the song ‘Ty ar y Mynydd’ from the album was voted the most popular song of the year in Radio Cymru's 'Mawredd Mawr' annual awards in 2003.

Whilst recording their second album ‘Merry-go-round’ Mitch left the band, and Dion Hughes from Bethesda joined the band. This second album was recorded at Waunfawr, Caernarfon with Les Morrison and Sam Durrant. Maharishi were then sponsored by the mountaineering clothing company ‘Stone Monkey’, and invited to play gigs in London.
After months of gigging throughout Wales, the band decided to move to Cardiff. For personal reasons, Dion was unable to join them, and Danny Morrison joined them as drummer number 4!

‘Keep your ears to the Ground’ EP was recorded at ‘Le Mons’ Newport and Sain Records and produced by Mark Roberts formerly of Catatonia.
Two years later, in 2005, the band released their 3rd album, "Plan B", also on the CRAI label.
