Henebion - Mwg Bore Drwg
Machynlleth act to release début single
Pomising young Machynlleth based band, Henebion, will be the latest new act to release their debut single as part of Y Selar magazines Singles Club when they release ‘Mwg Bore Drwg’ on 25 March.
To coincide with the release, the three piece act will play two gigs supporting Candelas, who were recently voted Wales’ best band for the second year running by Y Selar readers. The lauch gigs are very appropriate as Candelas guitarist Ifan Jones, produced the single at the Sain Studio in Llandwrog,
The first of the gigs will be at Ysgol Bro Hyddgen in Machynlleth, where the Henebion boys are pupils, on 25 March, and the second two days later at the COBRA rugby club in Meifod.
Who are Henebion?
Henebion are a three piece group from Machynlleth – Kristian Jones (guitar a lead vocals), Jake Hinge (bass guitar) and Dio Davies (drums).
The group formed in July 2014, originally under the name of Dio’s Basement … because they practised in the basement at Dio’s house…before settling on Henebion as a permanent name.
Henebion describe themselves as a rock band, and list groups such as Nirvana, Green Day, Blink-182 and of course Candelas amongst their influences.
The chance to record the new single has been a valuable opportunity for the young band according to their drummer.
“The Selar Singles Club has given us a great opportunity to record in a professional studio for the first time, and to work with a great producer like Ifan” said Dio Davies.
“It’s been a really good opportunity for us, and hopefully the experience will help us develop as a band.”
Y Selar’s Senior Editor is glad to see an exciting young band from Mid Wales beginning to make their mark.
“I came across Henebion for the first time in a gig in Aberystwyth just before Christmas and they immediately made an impression on me” said Owain Schiavone.
“They’re a heavy rock band, with a strong melody to their songs and I can’t wait to hear people’s reaction to the single.”
