Bangor City Male Voice Choir - Casgliad / Collection

A selection of Welsh and international favourites traditionally sung by male voice choirs.

The City of Bangor Male Voice Choir was founded by the conductor James Griffiths in 1988 who is also the Assistant organist at Bangor Cathedral. The Choir now have 43 members from a wide area of Gwynedd and Anglesey. They have performed in a large number of concerts locally and further afield including Canada, Germany, Malta, Cyprus and Austria.

The accompanist is Lowri Prys Roberts Williams, and has been with the Choir for nearly twelve years. She is well known locally as a Cymanfa (a hymn singing festival) conductor and teacher.

This recording is a fine selection of Welsh and international favourites traditionally sung by male voice choirs. From “The Lord’s Prayer” to “Softly as I leave you” and “Lily of the Valley”, and from Welsh classics like “Y Ddau Wladgarwr” to “Hwyrol Weddi” and “Paid â Deud”. Three from the Selection have powerful soloists – “I’se weary of waiting” with Huw Hughes, “Kalinka” with Gwilym Jones and “Safwn yn y Bwlch” with Norman Evans.
