EDWARD H. DAFIS - NIA BEN AUR
The classic 70’s rock opera.
There’s nothing like re-living the “good old days”, and that’s exactly what one can do by listening to this ageless Rock Opera on CD.
NIA BEN AUR was first performed at Carmarthen National Eisteddfod in 1974. The love-story has a strong connection between the Welsh and the Irish. Osian, the Prince of Ireland has fallen in love with Nia Ben Aur (the Welsh version of Goldilocks!), but has to choose between her and his country!
Later in the year, the album was recorded in LONDON and then at the old SAIN studio at Gwernafalau, Llandwrog. That was before they built the present 24-track studio. SAIN first released the Opera on cassette and record formats in 1975. Thanks to modern technology, all the crackles and scratches have now been digitally removed.
Many of the 70’s stars who performed in the Rock Opera are still in the limelight today e.g. Dewi “Pws” Morris, Heather Jones (who is about to launch a new album called “Hwyrgan”), Cleif Harpwood, Caryl Parry Jones, Iestyn Garlick, Tecwyn Ifan and Charli Britton.
Therefore, for some “blast from the past” sentiment, put a CD in your Hi-Fi, put your feet up, and enjoy dreaming about the good old rock and roll days of the 70’s.
