LINDA GRIFFITHS - OL EI DROED
This CD is a mixture of country, folk and middle of the road music. Her clear, Celtic voice is as pure as ever!
Linda is a true Montgomery lass who now resides at Penrhyncoch nr. Aberystwyth. She was brought up on Penybryn Farm, between Meifod and Pontrobert, and was educated at Pontrobert Primary School & Llanfair Caereinion. High School. She graduated in Welsh and Education at University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Linda was a member of the very successful folk group, Plethyn, along with her brother, Roy who went to Normal College in Bangor, and Jack, who was brought up on Rhos Fawr farm in Meifod. Both still live in the area.
NINE YEARS has passed since Linda recorded her last solo album, and this CD is a mixture of country, folk and MOR music. Her clear, Celtic voice is as pure as ever!
The band includes Charli Britton, Gari Williams, John Williams and Tudur Morgan. Tudur is also the Producer and has written three songs on the CD. Other contributions have been made by composers such as Frank Hennessey, Tudur Huws Jones, Myrddin ap Dafydd, Alun Sbardun Huws, Barry Jones, Glyn Roberts. Elfed Lewys was a Minister in Llanfyllin and Penllys for many years and was the founder of Aelwyd Penllys (some of the present members can be heard as backing singers on this track). Linda sings a tribute song to Elfed and the tune was composed by Elfed himself. It was was given to Linda a few years before his death four years ago.
Another sensitive tribute is the title song that was composed by Linda in memory of her late father, who passed away four years ago. The CD sleeve also suggests that her father’s footsteps are still vivid in the snow. It was designed by Linda’s first cousin who is a local artist. Kath Gittins was brough up on Pen Rhos farm near Meifod, and has her own Gallery called Oriel Ty Cornel at Meifod.
