Dafydd Edwards - Goreuon / The Best of
A collection of tenor Dafydd Edwards’ most popular songs taken from the above albums.
The tenor voice has always been the Welsh audiences’ favourite voice, and of the many popular tenors who have entertained us over the last three decades, Dafydd Edwards is certainly the one with the most varied repertoire. He came to prominence on the National Eisteddfod stage as a classical and ‘Cerdd Dant’ singer, and there are examples of both genres in this collection of his finest tracks. Indeed, with his precise clarity of voice and diction, his’ Cerdd Dant’ interpretations have deepened our appreciation of some of our finest pieces of Welsh poetry. Side by side with these are examples of folk songs like ‘Y ferch o Blwy Penderyn’, Welsh adaptations of contemporary hits like ‘Bridge over troubled water’ (Paul Simon), and songs from the shows like ‘Memory’ from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats”. Add to these operatic arias, religious songs and favourite Welsh solos, and you have a musical concert of great range and appeal.
