Ed Holden (Prosiect Craig) - Rapio'r Beibl
Using the bible as inspiration, Ed Holden has been working with young children from the Blaenau Ffestiniog area to create a very exciting project that recites some of the stories from the Bible by rapping.
He visited 6 primary schools in Meirionnydd (Manod, Edmwnd Prys, Bro Cynfal, Tanygrisiau, Maenofferen and Bro Hedd Wyn), and they created some rhythmic poems which were then rapped to some drum and synth accompaniment.
Ed said – “Before I began this project, I didn’t have that much interest in the Bible. I always thought that it was something for true believers, until I created a rap version of Zacchaeus’ story. After this my opinion changed completely…”
“It’s a lot of fun to introduce these stories to the children and then re-vamping them in a modern and interesting way, especially for the new generation, because rap is a cool thing.”
Tecwyn Ifan was responsible for organising these sessions, who’s a motivator for the Baptist denomination in Denbighshire, Flintshire and Meirionnydd and this rap project is part of the Craig scheme. He said that they were “very fortunate to have someone of Ed’s talent to be ready to take part in the project. His enthusiasm is infectious, and the response he gets from the children is astonishing.”
Rapio’r Beibl is now available to purchase on iTunes.
